You Were Made for This

Text: Psalm 139:13-17

Each of us are here, designed and manufactured for a purpose. Before you were ever knit together in your mother's womb, God knew your name and had a plan for you. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Why am I here? What is my purpose?
1. The wisest man who ever lived said:

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil (Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14 NIV).

2. We are Christ's Ambassadors. (2 Corinthians 5:17-21)

  • "Ambassador" - a diplomatic official of the highest rank, sent by one sovereign or state to another as its resident representative.
  • Our purpose? We represent Him. We are His hands extended. We are His Presence in this world.
  • The number one reason people do not come to church is because no one invited them. This is our purpose. Jesus called His followers to be "fishers of men."
  • Every Christ-follower should be about pointing and leading others to know Jesus.

How do I become such a fisherman?

1. Start praying for the people you care about to come to Christ.
2. Prepare your own personal testimony. Think through it. Why and how did you come to Christ? Make it 3 minutes or less.
3. God will give you an open door! Just share it!
4. Close the deal. "Would you like to ask the Lord into your life?"
5. Lead them in a simple, short prayer.
6. Give us their name and contact info.
