The Old Paths: Part 2

Text: Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV)
Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Last week's point: The preachers of old preached that sin was sin and repentance was the answer.

Today's theme from our roots:
Faith was a way of life, not a means to an end.

Too often faith is described as the thing to have if you want wealth and a special dimension with God. Let's start with a Scriptural understanding of faith - see Hebrews 11:1-2, 6. Faith is a confidence and trust that God exists, and that He cares enough to help us.

It is faith that brings us into relationship with God.
1.  We are saved by faith. (See John 3:16 and Ephesians 2:8-9).
2.  We are kept by faith.

God still answers prayer, still performs miracles, still moving on our behalf, altering circumstances, and favoring His people. He promised He'd be involved in our lives and He can't go back on His Word. See Matthew 19:26, Mark 11:22-24, John 15:7, Philppians 4:19, III John 1:2, and I Peter 5:7.

Romans 8:32 (NLT)
Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't he also give us everything else?
