The God Who Cares (Part Three: Naaman Healed of Leprosy)

Text: II Kings 5:1 (NIV)

Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.

We serve the only true and living God. The only God Who has shown His existence from Creation. The only God Who pursued relationship with His Creation. The only God Who exhibited His power to maintain His Creation. He is the One and Only true and living God - Who was, Who is, and Who is to come - Who genuinely, truly, and without limits, CARES for you and me. He is the God Who Cares!

Naaman, for thousands of years, has been defined not by his accomplishments, family heritage, public status, nor invested power. No, he was and is still labeled, "...but he had leprosy."

LABELS. We all have them. They have power. Providing it is the right label, they welcome us, receive us, embrace us. If not the right label, they push us away, hold us at bay.

Naaman was a leper. What label or tag have you come here with? Failure, dropout, adulterer, broken, alcoholic. It could even be successful, owner, boss or pastor. Labels, we all have them. The point is - God knows who you really are. God looks beyond the tags and labels; He sees what others most often don't see. He sees a broken heart, wounded spirit, the betrayal and abandonment, the "if only's." He sees. He knows. He cares!

God wants to help you today. His desire is to change some labels. Oh, the relief of dropping and shedding a label that has defined us for so long. Pick up a new label, one that says:

Made whole

Clean slate

Starting over

New beginning

Child of God
